VENTRAL HERNIA
I am a 34-year-old woman and for the past 2 years noticing a small lump the size of a lemon on my abdomen above the umbilicus.
I went to a nearby doctor, he thought it to be a lipoma. I was reassured and started living with it. For the last few weeks, I noticed an increase in the size of the lump especially when I laugh or strain my abdomen while coughing.
He evaluated my case and found VENTAL MID LINE HERNIA and SUGGESTED ROBOTIC MESH REPAIR SURGERY.
I was curious to know about VERNTAL HERNIA.

What is Ventral Hernia?
A ventral hernia is a protrusion of tissue or an organ through a weak spot in the abdominal wall.
The word “ventral” refers to the front of the abdomen. Ventral hernias can occur when a sac forms from the inner lining of the abdomen and pushes through a hole in the abdominal wall. They often occur at the site of an old surgical cut when we become obese or for any reason like pregnancy which increases intra-abdominal pressure.
